The Midwest has strange clichés, like that the locals are too nice or that the winters stretch too long. This area of the country is one of the most exciting–from fantastic winter sports to gorgeous sceneries, you’ll fall in love on your first visit and won’t look back!
Below are the best things about moving to the Midwest and why everyone should give it a try in the near future:
Gorgeous Autumns
There’s no autumn as beautiful as the one you’ll find in the Midwest. From the shifting leaves in Minnesota going from green to gold to fire red; to the incredibly crisp air and the warm smell of fireplaces heating up, autumn is comforting and makes the Midwest feel like paradise.
This is the best time of the year to go on a road trip here so that you can take in all of the views at once. This is a drive you’ll want to take every year after the first time you go.
Fantastic Cool Summers
Summers in the south are getting warmer, and many people are growing disillusioned, desperately moving up north to get away from temperatures above 100 degrees. The cool summers in the Midwest last for four to five months and generally only go up into the eighties at the highest.
This means you can enjoy spending time outside in the summer and thaw completely out before it heads back to winter.
Lots to Do During Winter
The winters are long, but don’t let this scare you away! Winter in the Midwest doesn’t have to be boring! While you’re out looking at Cincinnati houses for sale, look into ice fishing, skiing, and other winter sports.
These things might not be your first idea of a fun hobby, but getting outside and being active in the winter is great for your mental health. Seasonal depression comes from a lack of vitamin D and sometimes isolation, and the best way to repair this is to spend more time outside and have fun with others.
Inexpensive Properties
Property values are wild across the USA, so it’s a good idea to look into ways to find cheap housing. One of the best ways is to move to the Midwest.
Houses in states like Iowa are far more affordable than their counterparts on the coastlines and can also give you far more land in the deal. It’s a fantastic area to invest in your family’s comfort and future.
Friendly Locals
One of the biggest cliches about those in the Midwest is that they’re too friendly, or they’re surprisingly apologetic.
Although this can be bizarre for some, it’s charming and absolutely a positive note for most. Getting to be around people who respect you is a surprisingly nice thing.
So, whether you’re moving here for work or you’re excited to move to the Midwest to get back to your family, living in the Midwest feels like heaven! It’s an amazing place to live. Always remember that when you find the right area that matches your personality, you’ll surely never want to settle anywhere else.

I have lived in Louisiana and Florida. I think people always think your Midwest are ‘cowboy-ish’ and therefore more friendly and laid back. But I “think” you can find that just about anywhere. It just depends on the area. I really enjoyed your post.

It is pretty there, but I would hate the winters. I lived in Wyoming for 5 years and that was enough for me. I like my warmth so I live in Texas.
