Summer or not, I crave for halo-halo and have tried a bunch of variations starting from the neighborhood mini carinderia to fast food chains. Price ranges from PHP 25-30 which contains little bits of boiled cardava banana or what is commonly known as “saging na Saba“; few strips of sweetened jackfruit; colorful tapioca or what we usually call as “sago”; and cubed jellies/native gelatin or the “Gulaman”. It may be topped with a little pounded and toasted young green rice, but others use rice crispies instead and served via a mid-sized plastic cup.
Same goes through with the halo-halo servings from known fast food chains and restaurants which prices may vary from PHP 69 to almost PHP 200. The difference would be, additional variations and top with ice cream and the famous, irresistible leche flan; the milk that they are using i.e. fresh cow’s milk, non-fat milk, etc. and special sweet ingredients like beans, coconut sport or “macapuno”, and my favorite–sweet chickpeas or “garbanzos”.
Simply, what delights me is a rare offer where I could not entirely meet my cravings for halo-halo but being able to get to the selection of ingredients on my own!
Yes! With Marina’s Halo-Halo and Sorbetes All You Can Promo, I can create my own UNLIMITED halo-halo from 2-6pm for only Php 149!
